Don't Steal My Eggs Beginner Guide: Your First-Session Route
A step-by-step early route for Don't Steal My Eggs: finish the tutorial, hatch your first pet, train Speed, catch thieves in order, and beat the first zone champion to unlock Desert Island.
Don't Steal My Eggs puts you on the wrong end of the robbery: you hatch eggs at your base, and other players sprint off with them. The official loop is train to gain Speed, catch the enemies to protect your eggs, and use pets to earn Cash — and that loop is the entire beginner route.
Here is the route in one line: finish the tutorial chase, hatch the egg you save, claim your free starter items, unlock the first treadmill and its silver upgrade, then repeat the catch chain — train Speed, catch the next thief, hatch its egg — until you beat the first zone champion, the T-Rex, and unlock Desert Island. Everything below follows that order and shows you where the decisions are.

Quick start: the first actions to take
- Complete the tutorial chase. You spawn as a chicken, and a tutorial thief — named Nubini in one player's run — grabs your starting egg. Expect to lose this first chase: a fresh chicken is slower than the thief, and one noob run ends with the first egg getting carried off while you watch. That is the point of the tutorial. This is the reverse of steal-the-egg games — you are the one stopping thefts, not committing them.
- Hatch the egg you saved. Only eggs you successfully defend are kept and hatchable. Place yours at your base and hatch it for your first common pet — a chicken in one run, a parrot in another.
- Claim the free starter items. A fresh-account run shows a 1,000 Cash gift, a train potion to equip before you start training, one free animal to place at your base (a lizard in that run), and timed playtime rewards you can claim while playing. Release codes may add more free items — the Codes page keeps them current.
- Unlock your first treadmill and buy the silver upgrade. The game prompts you to unlock a treadmill for 10 Cash in one run; the silver upgrade (about 500 Cash in a translated run) increases the Speed you gain from training. Step on it and let your Speed climb.
- Enter the play section and catch thieves. Every thief you catch is one of their eggs saved — and every saved egg is a new pet for your base and a new animal you can turn into.
- Hatch, earn, reinvest, repeat. Your pets generate Cash (even while you're offline), and Cash buys faster training. This loop carries you to the T-Rex.
A note on pacing: videos that sprint through the first world in minutes used speed game passes, paid packs or admin-style commands on top of the tutorial. Their numbers are not what a plain fresh account should expect.
The early progression order, and why each step matters
Once the tutorial is done, the route is a loop with a fixed order of operations:
- Train first, chase second. Standing on a treadmill raises Speed, and early thieves outspeed a new chicken — the tutorial chase proves it. Training is the immediate priority; the first real catches come after it.
- Catch thieves in a loose sequence. Your inventory index tracks which animals you have beaten and can turn into. The observed order is chicken, frog, bat, tiger, giraffe, whale (or megalodon), ending the first world at the T-Rex. The order is flexible in practice — one run skipped the frog and caught the bat-tier thief first — but every catch unlocks the next transformation and that animal's egg.
- Place and hatch every won egg. Eggs sit at your base on a visible hatch timer — about 30 seconds for a T-Rex egg in one run, and longer for later eggs. Each hatched egg becomes a pet that earns Cash, which is why no catch is "just" a catch.
- Reinvest between catches. Cash goes back into treadmill upgrades, trails, base upgrades and rebirth, and each of those makes the next catch easier.
One failure state drives the whole loop: if you can't reach a thief before the chase ends, that attempt pays nothing. In one run the player watches a target slip away "right out of our grasp" and walks away with zero reward. That is the designed pressure to keep training Speed between attempts.
When to train Speed versus attempt the catch
The game labels each egg or thief with a recommended Speed value, so you rarely have to guess. One player read about 805 on the first frog-tier target (he initially misread the label as "strength" — it gates Speed, and the value is approximate). The scale climbs fast: one player trained to roughly 20 billion before taking on the pharaoh, and the final Yeti chase showed a 12.9 QI recommendation.
The working rule: train until you are near the recommendation, then attempt the catch. If a thief visibly outruns you — as in runs where chases ended empty-handed — go back to the treadmill and buy the next upgrade rather than burning attempts. Since a failed chase earns nothing, time on the treadmill between catches is how the game intends you to progress.
How Pets and Cash fit into early progress
Pets are your income engine. Every hatched egg becomes a pet that generates Cash, the game's main income for a new player. Observed examples from single runs: a turtle placed for 65 returned 78, a koala earned about 1k, and a first-world T-Rex pet earned about 16.5k per second later in the run — bigger catches, bigger payouts. The official page also confirms that your animals earn Cash offline, so the early habit is simple: place every hatched pet and let Cash accumulate between catch attempts. (If you have Roblox Plus, the store notes a +15% Cash bonus.) Our pets guide and Cash guide cover both systems in depth.
Spend that Cash in this order of impact:
- Treadmill upgrades — the biggest early lever. After the first unlock, one translated run pays about 500 for silver and 10K for golden, with the ladder continuing through diamond and later tiers priced in the billions. Each tier raises the Speed you gain per training session.
- Trail shop — trails add a speed multiplier. A cheap green trail was the first buy in one run, and a rainbow special trail showed a x3 speed multiplier.
- Base upgrades — one upgrade showed a x4 Cash multiplier, and base expansion costs Cash and increases earning, which speeds up every future purchase.
- Rebirth — consumes Cash and multiplies future Cash (x4 observed early, with larger multipliers later). Think of it as trading a stockpile of Cash for a permanent earning boost. See the rebirth guide for the full mechanic.
- Collection bonuses — the inventory index grants more power for each pet owned, a train multiplier for each boss completed, and a Cash multiplier for collecting every pet in an egg set, so keeping your catch chain complete pays twice.
Hatching mechanics and hatch timers are covered in the hatching guide.
What to work toward next
The game's own badges pin the milestone order for a fresh account:
| Badge | Requirement | Observed rarity |
|---|---|---|
| Discover T-Trex | Defeat the First Zone Champion | 75.4% (easy) |
| Discover Sphinx | Defeat the 2nd Zone Champion | 17.9% (hard) |
| Discover YETI | Defeat the Third Zone Champion | 0.2% (impossible) |
So your next concrete milestone is the T-Rex: finish the first world's catch chain, beat its champion, and hatch the T-Rex egg. The first zone guide details that fight. From there you travel to Desert Island — and don't relax. One player warns "don't be fooled by how easily you passed the first section"; the next treadmill there already costs around 15 billion Cash, and the second zone guide picks up from that difficulty spike. The full world chain continues through the Ice Kingdom to the Yeti, mapped in the zone progression overview.
Match your next read to your current bottleneck: too slow to catch anyone, see the speed training guide; losing eggs while you train, see the egg protection guide; ready to leave Green World, head to the third zone guide once the Sphinx falls. And because the game updates every Saturday per its official page, treat every price and Speed threshold here as a snapshot — the Updates page tracks what changed.
